AICO EI3016 Optical Smoke Alarm

The 3000 series by AICO is their market leading product that is also advertised on national television across the United Kingdom. 

The optical sensor uses an infa-red beam to detect smoke and will react to slow smouldering fires - the Ei3016 is recommended for your living room, landing, hallway, dining room and bedrooms.  

The 3000 range is also specified by social landlords and dependant on the layout of the dwelling, could also be used in HMO's. Critically, if you are planning to install the 3000 range in a (HMO) House of Multi Occupancy, ensure you check local fire regualtions.

An EI3000MRF SmartLINK module can be added for wireless interconnection and data extraction but allow us to explain what wireless interconnection means below. 

Also note that by using the Ei3000MRF's method of linking, you can only interconnect up to 12 unit's/alarms. By using what your electrician would term as hardwiring however, you can include up to 20 units/alarms on the same circuit - provided you use a maximum of 250metres of interconnecting cable. 

For optimum safety as well as in keeping with local fire safety standards for your area, you will very likely be installing more than one of these units from the range. It is not always practical however or indeed possible, for a suitably qualified person to interlink each alarm within the 3000 range with electrical cable. 

Within the 3000 range, you can therefore purchase Ei3000MRF's (x1 link module 'Ei3000MRF' would be required for each unit) which will then only require you to supply electrical power to each unit seperately/directly, as opposed to interlinking electrical cables all around your property by pulling up floorboards etc. Once each unit is then recieving its very own direct electrical cable feed, the Ei3000MRF's are then affixed to each unit and they then create the desired 'linkable system' that in the event of an activation, each unit then sounds it's 85dB(A) alarm simultaneously. 

Put another way, if your suitably qualified electrician can access floorboards easily enough above the room where this alarm is to be fitted, they may opt not to use the Ei3000MRF's because the electrical cables could therefore all be interlinked, thus still allowing the desired simultaneous alarm across all units in the the event of an activation.
